Personal illustration work using analog and digital techniques such as Japanese ink, markers, pencils, watercolours, and Procreate. I am deeply inspired by paper, from raw fiber to the finished sheet. My work also draws influence from Japanese ukiyo-e, mythology, and the relationship between humans and nature.
I have previously worked as a stylist and set designer, with a particular focus on lifestyle, design, and fashion. I have also studied textiles, clothign design and fashion, with an emphasis on hands-on fabric printing and dyeing, as well as working with woven and knitted materials.
My approach has often been intuitive, building worlds in a collage-like manner using cut-out techniques and embracing chance as part of the process. These backgrounds are reflected in my illustration work, where I create styled spaces and characters, as if composing a photoshoot or a film scene, with every element within the frame intuitively chosen. In my illustrations, I often construct small escapist worlds that exist somewhere between imagination, the subconscious, and reality.
